Nonprofit plans Casas for CASA fundraiser _lowres

Capital Area CASA Association will kick off its 21st annual Casas for CASA playhouse fundraiser with the CASA Fiesta from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 19.

This year’s CASA Fiesta will be held at the Renaissance Hotel and feature Mexican cuisine by Caliente Mexican Craving, a silent auction and live music by The Better Than Nobody Band.

Tickets are $50 each and available at casabr.org, at the event or by phone at (225) 379-8598. Dress is summer casual.

The 2015 CASA playhouse, valued at $22,000, will be on display July 25 through Aug. 16 at the lower level center court of the Mall of Louisiana. Raffle tickets are $5 each and available at casabr.org at the mall or at the CASA office, 848 Louisiana Ave. This year’s playhouse was designed by Lilliput Play Homes and will be assembled by Faulk and Meek General Contractors.

The fundraiser wraps up with CASA Kids Day at the Mall of Louisiana from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend the free event featuring safety and wellness exhibits, activities and entertainment, capped off by the playhouse giveaway at 5 p.m. Faulk and Meek will deliver the playhouse to the winner within 60 miles of the Mall of Louisiana.

All proceeds benefit Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, a nonprofit that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected youth in need of safe, permanent homes.
