A Baton Rouge teenager was indicted Wednesday in the Oct. 1 shooting death of a 24-year-old man on Osceola Street.
An East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury charged Tyler Pointer, 18, 2762 Jessamine St., with second-degree murder in the slaying of Monquel Yates.
Police responding to a call about gunfire found an unoccupied car with shattered glass and blood inside in the 3600 block of Osceola, followed a blood trail and located Pointer’s body between two houses in the 3400 block.
Pointer faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison if convicted as charged.
The case has been assigned to state District Judge Lou Daniel.
