Liberty Lagoon will hold its End of the Summer Pool Pawty from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday . This dog-friendly event is limited to 100 dogs. Purchase your wristband at Liberty Lagoon starting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $2 per person: limit of two dogs per handler.

All participants must comply with the following rules:

Dog waste must be cleaned up and properly disposed of by the dog owner.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times, except in the pool area.

All children and dogs must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old.

No dogs under 4 months old are allowed.

Proof of vaccinations, including rabies and bordetella (tags or paper), is required.

Owners are allowed to wade in water up to the knees.

Dogs must wear collars while swimming.

Aggressive dogs may be asked to leave.

Owners are responsible for the actions of their dog.

Owning your own home

An informational seminar on owning your own home will be presented in Spanish at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd.

Presenters are Miguel Castro Jr., a Realtor with Coldwell Banker One; tax preparer Samera Welsh; Ernesto Morejon, a home insurer; and Debbie Fruge of Academy Mortgage.

Story and craft time

Kids ages 5 to 7 can come to the Bluebonnet library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for readings of “The School Bus Driver from the Black Lagoon” by Mike Thaler and “The Little School Bus” by Carol Ruth.

Following story time, children can make a school bus picture frame craft.

Trees and Trails docents

Docent kickoff, recruitment and orientation for the fall Trees and Trails/Project Learning Tree Youth Education Program will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 2 or Sept. 8 in the Conference Center at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens. Lunch will be provided.

Docents and prospective docents only need to attend one session.

The expanded curriculum includes the newly developed Woodlands, Wildlife and Wetland learning stations.
