The featured film for Make It a Movie Night at Independence Park Theatre at 7 p.m. Friday is “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Admission is free for this showing of the 1973 film version of the musical drama. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Geaux Teal for cancer

Geaux Teal’s fourth annual Ovarian Cancer Walk, to support women with ovarian cancer in the Baton Rouge area, gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday at LSU Tiger Park.

Registration for the two-mile walk is $25 per person; sign up online at Those who wish to participate but cannot attend can register using the “Walk from Your Bed” option.

The walk will be followed by the fifth annual Strikeout Ovarian Cancer game at 6 p.m. at Tiger Park, in which the Tigers play South Carolina for game two of the weekend’s Southeastern Conference series. A pregame ceremony will honor survivors and those who have died from ovarian and other gynecologic cancers. LSU will sport commemorative teal jerseys, and fans are asked to wear teal.

Messy Masterpieces

BREC will offer its Messy Masterpieces program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Nairn Drive Park. Come in and create your own special masterpiece using paints, chalk or charcoal with your hands, fingers and brushes. Call (225) 272-9200, ext. 572, for details.

Wings for Autism

Families with children and adults who have autism are invited to register for the second annual Wings for Autism, an airport “rehearsal” that simulates all the activities associated with air travel.

Participants will experience everything from checking in at the ticket counter to boarding the plane, where they will experience all the sights and sounds that come with takeoff.

Wings for Autism takes places May 14 at Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. The event is free, but you must register in advance; visit thearc/wingsforautism to sign up.
