Volunteers from Baton Rouge High School’s National Honor Society will bring a selection of cool board games and puzzles to Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Children ages 4 to 11 are welcome to come and play.

Dog day of summer

BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center welcomes four-footed friends Saturday for Dog Days at the Swamp. All pets must be on a leash and have their vaccinations current.

Pick your poison

The Baton Rouge Critical Thinking Club presents “Don’t Panic! It’s Only Poison,” a program for adults, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in meeting room 2 at Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library.

The program is co-sponsored by the Toxicology Education Foundation and the library and will cover what’s really in your air and water, the food you eat and the medicines you take.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served.

Mosaic mojo

“Toucan Can” by Juliette McIvver is the inspiration for a craft time for children ages 2 to 5 at Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library.

From 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday in meeting room 1, kids will make a toucan mosaic door hanger to take home for their bedrooms.

NOVAC Film Camp

A free media summer camp for ages 13 to 17 will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library.

New Orleans Video Access Center will teach teens how to write and direct their own video and use film and audio equipment and editing software.

Two live-action shows for children are in store this week at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch Library. Both shows will be in meeting room 2.

The Harvey Rabbit and Friends Show, featuring puppetry and live-action fun, is at 2:30 p.m. Monday, and the Sock Rockerz’ “Ready, Set, ROCK!” show is at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Father/daughter dance

Put on your dancing shoes for BREC’s annual father/daughter dance at 6:30 p.m. June 18 in the banquet room at Independence Community Park.

Young ladies of all ages are invited, along with their fathers or favorite gentlemen. The evening includes music, dancing, food, games and photo opportunities.
