The Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation will host its ninth annual Mixed Doubles Tennis Classic and Gala from Thursday through Sunday at the Country Club of Louisiana.
LPCF is a Baton Rouge-based nonprofit organization that supports southeast Louisiana families who have children battling congenital heart defects. LPCF also provides free heart screenings for high school athletes in an effort to prevent sudden cardiac death.
Approximately 100 mixed doubles teams will compete in five divisions. The open division will include seven professional tennis teams composed of former NCAA players and current circuit players from New Orleans, Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
The four-day event begins with a kickoff party and Calcutta for participants and sponsors on Thursday evening. Tennis matches begin on Friday at noon and continue until Sunday afternoon.
The highlight of the event is the Saturday evening gala with dinner, live music, and both live and silent auctions emceed by The LSU Elvis. Music will be provided by The Eddie Smith Band with special guest Peggy Polk.
