Read columnist and photographer Steven Forster’s coverage of New Orleans’ social events at The Advocate.
Events featured in the Sept. 1st edition of The New Orleans Advocate:
• Birthday Boy: Circus performers, trapeze artists, a laser show and even mermaids delighted guests at a party to celebrate the first birthday of Marcus Motwani, held at the four-story lakefront home of proud grandparents Mike and Jaya Motwani.
• Water Too High, Bones Too Low: The Contemporary Arts Center in partnership with the Trinity Episcopal Church Artist Series presented the world premiere of “Water Too High Bones Too Low” by Hannibal Lokumbe at Trinity Episcopal Church. The concert also featured Valerie Francis and the Voices of Purpose Choir along with the Music Liberation Orchestra.
• Start It Up: ‘Let’s Get The Party Started’ was the theme of a benefit for Southern Decadence recently at John Paul’s Bar, in preparation for the annual Labor Day celebration of gay culture.
