“HOWLoween” Trick & Treat for families and their dogs will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Raising Cane’s Dog Park at Forest Community Park, 13900 S. Harrell’s Ferry Road.
A Best Dog Costume Contest will be held and prizes awarded. Visit local pet advocacy groups’ tents for information and treats for the family and the dogs. There also will be food and music.
Also, BREC’s annual BREC-A-BOO Halloween event for all ages will be held at Forest Community Park from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. BREC-A-BOO features carnival games, ghostly visitors, costume contests, a haunted hike, inflatables and more.

Highland Road Park Observatory’s Science Academy for children ages 8 to 12 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the observatory.
Hands-on demonstrations and experiments related to astronomy, physics and space science will be offered. Children can rise through the ranks, earning higher cadet certificates as the sessions go on.
