The LSU AgCenter Botantic Gardens invites children between the ages of 3 and 8 to StoryTime at Burden on Dec. 6, according to a news release.

StoryTime will include family-friendly reading of “Oh, What a Christmas!” by Michael Garland, followed by imagination-themed activities and related crafts.

Readings will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 6 at the Steele Burden Memorial Orangerie and will repeat every 30 minutes until the last reading starts at 10:30 a.m.

Children must be accompanied by a parent, and the event is free.

The program is supported, in part, by the Junior League of Baton Rouge.

“The StoryTime program is a creative way of mixing storytelling, reading and imaginative, hands-on educational activities,” said LSU AgCenter professor Becky White, who heads the program. “The program is inspired by the Storyteller’s Garden in Grasmere Cumbria, England, which I discovered by accident on a vacation.”

“I thought the idea was a charming one and would translate easily at StoryTime at Burden,” she said.
