EFCU Financial recently awarded Cailyn Gross its 2015 Sue Geske Scholarship Award.
Gross, a recent graduate of Baton Rouge Magnet High School, was presented with a $1,000 scholarship check by EFCU Financial CEO Tyler Grodi, a news release said.
Students are evaluated based on GPA, SAT/ACT score, community and extracurricular activities and a written essay. The essay asked students to provide credit union leaders with advice on reaching their generation.
“We were impressed by the high-quality, thoughtful essays from this year’s applicants. We learned a great deal about young people’s attitudes about credit unions and how to relate to them,” Grodi said.
Other 2015 winners include Diamond Yarbrough, Central High School, $500 scholarship; and Richard Myers, Christian Life Academy, and Casey West, Dutchtown High School, $250 scholarships.
The Sue Geske Scholarship program application period generally runs from February to May each year for eligible students.
