Natural gas is no longer leaking and traffic is now flowing on Florida Boulevard near its intersection with 22nd Avenue.

The gas leak, which began shortly before 3 p.m., forced authorities to close Florida Boulevard in both directions between 22nd and 23rd avenues until about 6:30 p.m., said Curt Monte, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman.

The outside westbound lane of Florida Boulevard remains closed as utility crews work to repair the gas line that sprung a leak earlier in the day, Monte said.

An Entergy spokesman has said company crews were working to repair the gas line.
