Garbage, trash and recyclable materials will not be collected in East Baton Rouge on Friday, New Year’s Day. The makeup day for recyclable materials is Saturday, but there will be no makeup day for garbage collection.

The city-parish is asking residents to wait until their next regularly scheduled pickup day for trash.

All city-parish offices also will be closed Friday.

The Capital Area Transit System will run normal bus routes on New Year’s Eve, but it will switch to a Saturday schedule for New Year’s Day.

All East Baton Rouge Parish libraries will be closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. They will re-open Saturday.

All BREC golf courses will stay open over the New Year’s holidays.

BREC’s administrative offices will be closed Jan. 1. Other BREC properties to be closed on New Year’s Day include tennis centers, recreation centers, BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, Cohn Arboretum, Magnolia Mound Plantation, Independence Park Theatre, Baton Rouge Gallery and Highland Road Park Observatory.

The 19th Judicial District Court, East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s Office and U.S. District Court are closed Thursday and Friday. Baton Rouge City Court is closed Thursday and Friday, but the City Court Clerk’s Office is open Thursday.
