Tipitina’s Foundation’ Music Office Co-Op will begin a month-long series of workshops for music industry professionals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Baton Rouge Main Library, 7711 Goodwood Blvd.
“Making Business of Your Band” is a four-part workshop presented with support from Louisiana Economic Development’s Small and Emerging Business Development Program and the Recording Academy Memphis Chapter. The workshop’s goal is to help music and media professionals further develop their businesses.
The four sessions are: Getting Into Business: The “why” and “how” of entrepreneurship; Making It Legal: Producing and protecting intellectual property and business; Managing Revenue Streams: Small business accounting, crowd-funding, and diversification; and Taking it to Another Level: Industry trends, strategy, discovering new in local, regional, national, and international markets.
This workshop series is free for Tipitina’s Music Office Co-Op members. Others may participate for $10 per session. Recording Academy members receive a 50 percent discount.
Workshop presenters include local entertainment industry veteran Johnny Palazzotto, Grammy-winning producer Scott Billington, Basin Street Records president Mark Samuels and Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Louisiana Office of Tourism LeAnne Weill.
