BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo invites visitors to “Red, White and Zoo” on Saturday in honor of the Fourth of July.
Activities will include Safari Amphitheatre programs, games and crafts featuring some of the zoo’s red, white and blue animals.
The zoo is at 3601 Thomas Road.
Closed for holiday
The Jones Creek Regional Branch Library will be closed Saturday in observance of the Fourth of July. Regular hours will resume Sunday.
Paint chip pixel art
Teens can create pixel art of superheroes, video game characters or anything else out of paint chip samples at the Jones Creek library branch from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The Dulcimer Guy
Dulcimer player Mike Anderson brings music, storytelling and humor to children ages 3 to 11 at the Jones Creek library from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Anderson has won numerous awards, including two Parents’ Choice honors, three Outstanding Educator Awards, a Recommended Honor from Parents’ Choice and a Gold Honor from the Children’s Music Web.

Game lovers ages 18 to 30-ish can enjoy Small World, Settlers of Catan, Dominion and other games from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Creek library. Light refreshments will be served.

Also Tuesday, adults can indulge in Scrabble and Quiddler from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.
