Fallen officers memorial

A ceremony honoring the fallen officers of East Feliciana and their families begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, between the East Feliciana Sheriff’s Office building and the Clinton courthouse. All are invited to attend. Guest speaker will be U.S. Marshal Henry L. Whitehorn.

Candidates forum

The Dem Dames of the Felicianas will host a question-and-answer forum with the candidates running for the offices of judge and district attorney in the 20th Judicial District.

The forum will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Jackson Lions Civic Center, 2084 La. 10, Jackson.

Leo Honeycutt, award-winning author, will pose the questions and moderate. Admission is free.

Silliman homecoming

Congratulations to Silliman Institute’s 2014 homecoming court. The maids are Sarah Bordelon, Sophie Bruckmiere, Kayla Hebert, Preslie Hornsby, Danielle Pierce, Sydney Womack and Madison Worsham.

The SI homecoming parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. Friday and proceed up Bank Street to the courthouse square. Early dismissal upon return to the school by 11:30 a.m.

The court will be presented and the queen crowned at 6 p.m. prior to Friday’s 7 p.m. game against Wayne Academy.

Battle re-enactment

The 151st Battle of Jackson Re-enactment will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday though Sunday at the Centenary State Historic Site, 3522 College St. Bring the entire family and watch demonstrations of the re-enactment of the Civil War skirmish. The event will commence with artillery and infantry drills.

Early voting

Early voting in East Feliciana starts Oct. 21.Registered voters can cast ballots at the Registrar of Voters Office, 11048 Bank St., Clinton, for the Nov. 4 election from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Oct. 21-28, except Sunday.

Health benefits

State Rep. Kenny Havard, R-Jackson, invites state workers who are active employees and those who have retired to join him at two meetings scheduled for Oct. 24.

The first meeting, for retirees with Medicare, will begin at 2:30 p.m. The second meeting, for active employees and non-Medicare retirees, will begin at 5 p.m.

Both will be held in the main recreation hall of the East Louisiana State Hospital in Jackson, 4205 La. 951.
