Metro Council officials have cleared the way for new town homes on Government Street near Jefferson Highway.

Due to a "quirk" of city code, part of the land for the proposed development allows town homes, while the portion under consideration Wednesday does not, Planning Director Frank Duke told the Metro Council.

The council, sitting as the zoning commission, unanimously approved rezoning 1.27 acres of undeveloped land, on which 22 of the town homes can be built, according to a staff report.
