The Southern Louisiana Chapter of Romance Writers of America is seeking entries for the ninth Annual Dixie Kane Memorial Contest.

The national competition, which honors late SOLA member Linda Kay West who wrote as Dixie Kane, aims to encourage authors to perfect their craft.

Each participant gets a detailed critique from experienced judges, and first-place winners will get a critique by an editor of The Wild Rose Press.

The contest looks for writers in historical romance, paranormal, inspirational and literary genres. Include your first five pages with a one-page synopsis. The deadline for entering is July 15, and the entry fee is $15 per manuscript.

SOLA includes 26 published authors and 44 hopeful authors in the New Orleans area. Learn more about the chapter and the contest at solawriters.org.
