Registration is underway for the BREC Open House Junior Singles Round Robin Tournament, scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 at Capital One Tennis Center at City-Brooks Community Park.

ZooLights 2015

From Friday through Dec. 30, visitors to Baton Rouge Zoo will enjoy the lights and displays of all your favorite zoo animals and holiday traditions. Hot cocoa and other treats will be available to purchase.

Libraries closed for holiday

Remember, the Carver, Eden Park, Main and River Center libraries are closed Thursday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Holiday wreath story, craft

River Center Branch Library will hold a holiday story and craft session for children ages 5 to 11 at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

NaNoWriMo wrap-up

National Novel Writing Month comes to a close at midnight Tuesday. Finish up your project during write-ins at the Main Library from 9 a.m. to noon Friday and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday.

Christmas around the corner

The Main Library invites children ages 2 and older to color Christmas tree ornaments at the Children’s Room daily beginning Tuesday through Dec. 23. Ornaments may be hung on the library trees or taken home.

Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult. No groups are allowed.

Gifts of the heart

Children ages 9 to 11 will learn to make ornaments to give to someone special after hearing Patricia Polacco’s book, “Gifts of the Heart,” at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Carver Branch Library. This event is limited to 15 participants. Call (225) 389-7440 to register.

Movie night

Eden Park Branch Library will show the family Christmas movie “Miracle on 34th Street” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Popcorn will be served.

LASM Discovery Dome

Louisiana Art & Science Museum’s Pennington Planetarium Discovery Dome is in the holiday spirit with “Let it Snow” at River Center Branch Library from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 3.

Children of all ages will enjoy a variety of festive classics and a multimedia finale by the Trans Siberian Orchestra along with full-dome animation, laser imagery and special effects. There will be four 30-minute showings and registration is required. Call (225) 389-4959.
