The East Baton Rouge Parish Library system’s OverDrive ebook collection is now compatible with the Amazon Kindle, Assistant Library Director Mary Stein said Wednesday, making the ebooks accessible to one of the most widely used ereader devices.

“This is a good thing,” Stein said. “The library’s going to get more bang for its buck.”

The library’s system already supported ebook readers such as the Nook and Sony devices; Kindle will be added to the mix, she said.

Some 7,500 ebooks, 8,000 audiobooks, music and videos are available for checkout through the library’s website,, Stein said.

The website includes instructions for patrons on how to access the materials, she said.
