Addressing the needs:The Lions put together a complete class, covering every position except tight end. SLU added much-needed size on the offensive and defensive lines while also creating depth. The Lions also went heavy on defensive backs and linebackers after losing several key players in those positions to graduation.

WHERE THEY STAND: SLU addressed its needs, but the Lions would still like to add a few more immediate impact players, particularly at receiver and running back.

Lagniappe:Linebacker Issiah Corbett played for former NFL receiver Jessie Hester at Glades Central High School. ... Corbett and running back Darrius Guy redshirted the 2011 season at Delta State, where Ron Roberts coached before coming to SLU. ... Defensive back Trenon Trosclair played for his father, Paul, at Eunice High, where he was the team’s starting quarterback. ... DB Eric Jenkins, originally from McMain HS in New Orleans, was teammates with Deion Sanders Jr. at Atlanta Sports Academy.

Coach roberts says: “I feel really good about it. I’m excited about this class. Top to bottom, I think we addressed all of our problems.”
