City-parish leaders plan to mark the completion of improvements to Fairchild-Badley Road in north Baton Rouge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.

The road, which connects Scenic Highway to Veterans Memorial Boulevard, was previously a narrow two-lane road with open ditches. After $7.5 million in improvements, it now has sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

Construction began in December 2014, and took about a year to complete. Some of the improvements extended to Elm Grove Garden Drive as well.

The city-parish will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church on Curtis Street.
