LSU football fans began their journeys to Arlington, Texas, on Friday for the No. 4 Tigers’ season opener against No. 3 Oregon in Cowboys Stadium.

The opener at 7 p.m. Saturday comes after an off-season of turbulence. Notable incidents include two players — senior quarterback Jordan Jefferson and sophomore linebacker Joshua Johns — being suspended for alleged involvement in a bar fight, wide receiver Russell Shepard being declared ineligible and assistant coach Steve Kragthorpe stepping down as offensive coordinator.

The Southern University football team begins its season Saturday as the Jaguars face Tennessee State in Nashville at 6 p.m.
