A Baton Rouge mother and daughter have admitted to fraudulently obtaining nearly $51,000 in federal housing assistance funds, U.S. Attorney Walt Green said.

Louella Robertson, 68, pleaded guilty Thursday before U.S. District Judge John deGravelles to theft of government funds. Rhoda Renae Robertson, 47, pleaded guilty to the same charge Tuesday in front of U.S. District Judge Shelly Dick.

The Robertsons stole more than $38,000 in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher funds between July 2011 and December 2014 by submitting fraudulent documents to the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority, court documents indicate.

Rhoda Robertson, prior to July 2011, engaged in similar conduct and illegally obtained more than $12,000 in HUD Section 8 housing assistance funds, court records show.

Sentencing dates for the Robertsons have not been set.
