The state’s juvenile justice boss, Mary Livers, is stepping down as of Friday, just months after she’d been reappointed to the position by Gov. John Bel Edwards, his spokesman Richard Carbo said Thursday.
Livers’ retirement comes a little over a week after a state senate committee grilled her about violence at a state youth facility.
She started as deputy secretary of the state Office of Juvenile Justice in 2008.
More to come.
