Retired LSU baseball coach and athletic director Skip Bertman was treated at a local hospital after becoming over-heated at a youth baseball tournament, an athletic department spokesperson said Wednesday night.
“He’s fine,” Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent said. “They gave him some fluids and he should be home (later Wednesday night). The doctor said there’s no cause for concern.”
Bertman was attending the Opening Ceremonies of the United States Specialty Sports Association World Series at Cypress Mounds Baseball Complex when he became over-heated and was taken by ambulance to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he was treated, Vincent said.
Bertman, 73, was hospitalized and underwent a procedure to insert a stent in an artery after suffering a cardiac event three years ago.
