Temperatures in the mid-90s, heat indexes as high as 107 and a chance of severe weather are part of this weekend's weather forecast in south Louisiana.
The chance of rain is minimal -- 20 percent on Friday and Saturday then 30 percent on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. But if rain does develop, the NWS said "a few of these could pulse to strong or severe levels with strong damaging winds."
Otherwise, stress from the heat might approach dangerous levels each afternoon, the NWS warned. Heat indexes will range from 102-107 degrees in the afternoons.
You might remember a year ago Friday, Baton Rouge set a record low at 62 degrees...
Looks like we may have set two record lows this AM: Baton Rouge hit 62 (old record 64) and McComb 63 (old record 65) - NWS will confirm— Laura Buchtel WWL ?? (@Laura_Buchtel) July 17, 2014
