The YMCA is offering summer camp to give children and teens an adventurous, active and healthy summer, a news release said.

YMCA summer camp programs offer youth an opportunity to explore the outdoors, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime, the release said.

The YMCA has weekly themes planned for summer camp this year. Each theme gives youth the opportunity to engage in learning, wellness and fun.

At astronomy week, campers will have an opportunity to learn about stars and planets. Activities and a field trip will be centered on exploring astronomy.

Kinesiology week will give campers a chance to learn how to have an active and healthy lifestyle.

During marine biology week, campers will take part in water-related activities.

YMCA camps also will include themes such as agriculture, music, criminology and zoology. Specialty camps on cooking, arts, gymnastics/dance, tennis and other sports also are on tap.

The YMCA also offers summer camp to youth with autism.

To ensure that all youth have the same chance to experience camp, the Y offers financial assistance to those in need. Registration deadline is May 8. For information, visit ymcabr.org/camp.
