Guest speakers at the A.C. Lewis YMCA’s monthly Healthy Aging Activity for August were Dana Territo, director of services for Alzheimer’s Services, and Dr. Jeffrey Keller, of the Pennington Institute for Dementia Research and Prevention.
Keller gave an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, discussed studies being conducted at the institute and welcomed audience members to enroll and participate.
Territo talked about the importance of being proactive in aging while following a brain-healthy lifestyle — promoting good nutrition, physical activity, socialization, mental stimulation and spirituality.
The next Healthy Aging Activity will be flu shots, which will be provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at the A.C. Lewis YMCA, 350 S. Foster Drive.
