Pop-up offers produce

Local honey, fresh goat milk and cheeses, pasture-raised eggs and pecan nut butters are just a few of the treats available at Alexander’s Highland Market’s first pop-up of the year from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 3.

Pennington Biomedical Research Center nutritionists will also be sharing healthy recipe samples and other nutritional information.

The free market, located at 18111 Highland Market Drive, also will feature face painting for kids and outdoor grilling.

“Supporting other small businesses and bringing people together to meet the folks who grow and make their food has been a fundamental part of our business plan since we opened two years ago,” said Lathan Alexander, president. “The pop-up market model builds community and benefits everyone.”

WesMarFarms goat dairy in Moreauville and Guidry Organic Farms in Lafayette will be selling fresh farm products. Other participating small food businesses include Cafeciteaux coffees, Truly Southern snack mixes, French Settlement Sausage, Ruth’s Hummus, Most Delightful Foods, Red Stick Spice Co., The Big Squeezy, Re: salad dressings, Andi Lynn’s Elderberry Syrup, Nabeela Gill’s Tamarind Sauce, Sensational Southern Gourmet Mixes, Militello’s, and Grinning Jupiter Jammery. ‘God of Carnage’ tickets

BREC’s Independence Park Theatre and Cultural Center, 7800 Independence Blvd., will present a production of “God of Carnage,” written by Yasmina Reza. Performances will be held April 15-16, starting at 7:30 p.m. and April 17 at 2 p.m.

The play is directed by Jason Breaux. Open auditions were held in February.

Patrons may purchase tickets at Independence Park Theatre, or online at theparktheatre.com. Tickets are $15 for general admission or $10 for student admission.
