Kindergartners at Runnels School celebrated the 100th day of school on Jan. 21 with activities and lessons based on the number 100.
Each student brought a display of 100 items to school for exhibition in the drama room for the day. Collections included fish-shaped crackers glued onto a drawing of an aquarium, round cotton make-up pads shaped into a caterpillar and gumballs.
Lessons included counting out loud to 100 by twos, fives and 10s in math class, reading Joseph Slate’s “Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the 100th Day of Kindergarten” in language arts and decorating 100th day headbands in art.
The celebration wrapped up in the drama room, where students popped 100 balloons, enjoyed cake and drew pictures of what they thought they would look like in 100 years.
