The USS KIDD will celebrate Memorial Day Monday with a ceremony that begins at 10 a.m.

Gold Star Sibling Billie Jo Alexander will be the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony keynote speaker. A Gold Star sibling is a person whose brother or sister was killed while in the U.S. military.

The ceremony will be held in the Louisiana Memorial Plaza, 305 S. River Road, beginning at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Baton Rouge closings

All East Baton Rouge city-parish offices will be closed, including the libraries, on Memorial Day.

Garbage and recycling collections will continue as scheduled.

CATS buses will run on a reduced Saturday schedule.

West Baton Rouge event

West Baton Rouge Parish will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. at the West Baton Rouge Veterans Memorial in front of the parish courthouse.

West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Pointe Coupee closures

Parish offices in West Baton Rouge, Iberville and Pointe Coupee will be closed.

Garbage collection in West Baton Rouge, Iberville and Pointe Coupee parishes will be picked up as scheduled.

Denham Springs closings

Denham Springs city offices will be closed, and the regular City Council meeting will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Denham Springs Municipal Building.

Trash collection will continue as usual.

Denham Springs

Denham Springs VFW Post 7017 will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. in the mausoleum section of Evergreen Memorial Park.

Livingston Parish closing

Livingston Parish public schools and the School Board central office will be closed.

New Roads trash pickup

Garbage will not be collected in the city of New Roads on Monday. Trash pick-up will resume on Friday.

Ascension Parish event

A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Veterans Park in Gonzales on South Irma Avenue next to the parish library.

Ascension Parish closings

All Ascension Parish government offices will be closed Monday, as well as the Gonzales and Donaldsonville city offices and the town office of Sorrento.

The Gonzales City Council has moved its regular meeting from Monday to Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall.

Trash collection will continue as usual in Gonzales.
