A big win for the Runnels School Lady Raiders soccer team on Jan. 30 secured the Division III, District 6 championship.

The team edged out Episcopal 1-0 to claim the district title for the fourth year in a row.

The winning goal came when senior Sadie Kraft scored in the 60th minute of the game off a free kick earned by senior Morgan Evans. Shannon French, also a senior, made seven saves.

In the bidistrict playoffs on Feb. 6, the Lady Raiders beat Catholic-New Iberia 1-0, but lost to St. Frederick of Monroe 2-0 in the regional round on Feb. 10.

Directing the Lady Raiders are head coach Angie Mitchell and assistant coach Callie Allbright.
