HAMMOND — The Louisiana Board of Regents has awarded a $92,000 grant to the fine and performing arts department at Southeastern Louisiana University to add equipment and software to aid graphic design students.
The university will add another $38,000 to the program.
The equipment includes 23 Mac Pro computers with 27-inch screens. The technology will enhance other areas within graphic design including illustration, print, motion and web design.
Environmental design is considered one of the top five disciplines in the growing graphic design profession. It’s the signage, typography, motion and digital projection encountered at airports, squares and other locations, said Tasheka Arceneaux-Sutton, an SLU assistant professor of graphic design.
