The cause of a fire at Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy last week was found to be arson, Baton Rouge fire officials said Tuesday.
Investigators are seeking a person of interest in the fire, who was captured on video surveillance, Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte said in a news release.
The school’s gymnasium caught fire around 1:50 p.m. Friday. The school, located at 4375 E. Brookstown Drive, has been closed for renovations since being damaged in the August flood.
Anyone with information about the person of interest is asked to contact Baton Rouge fire investigators at 225-354-1419 or Crimestoppers.
