“Good Witches Doing Good Works” is the motto of the New Orleans Black Hat Society, which benefited from proceeds of the annual New Orleans Witches Ball at the 1869 Elms Mansion in the Garden District. Followers of earth-centered spiritual paths and their friends celebrated Samhain, the Pagan forerunner to Halloween, with the Dans Macabre, along with refreshments, live music, puppet shows and a silent auction.
