Central Community School Board voted itself a paycheck Monday of $650 a month per member and $750 for its president, Superintendent Michael Faulk said.

The seven-member board has not been paid since the school system was formed in 2007 after it broke away from East Baton Rouge Parish public schools.

The vote was 6-1 with board member Roxanne Atkinson voting no, Faulk said.

Atkinson and fellow board member Willard Easley said they are not going to accept the pay, which they placed in the board minutes as required by law, Faulk said.

Board member Jim Lloyd and his wife Gail plan to put his paycheck into a fund to benefit the arts in Central, Faulk said.

The other board members are Sharon Browning; David Walker; Ruby Foil and James Gardner.

Central board members’ pay is below the $800 per member per month, $900 for the president, maximum set by the Louisiana Legislature.
