East Baton Rouge Parish residents may register for BREC summer camps beginning Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Parents or guardians may register in person at the facility of their choice or online for all locations. Dates, times, ages and fees vary per camp.
Offerings include athletic camps, extreme sports skate camp and BMX camp, Camp Sunshine for children with mental and developmental disabilities, conservation camps, outdoor adventure camps, recreation camps and tennis camps.
Also offered are special-interest summer camps at the Baton Rouge Gallery, Baton Rouge Zoo, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, Farr Park Equestrian Center, Highland Road Park Observatory, Independence Park Theatre and Magnolia Mound Plantation.
“Summer in the City,” a new camp specifically designed for teens, will run from June 6-10 at City-Brooks Community Park. Sessions may include golf lessons, tennis lessons, art projects, kayaking, paddle boarding, outdoor survival skills and more.
All camp sites will be open for walk-in registrants until spaces are filled. Deposits and financial assistance are available on site. Camp Sunshine must be done in person and accompanied by an assessment.
Online registration for all locations can be completed at webtrac.brec.org. Full payment is required at time of registration and no deposits or financial assistance are available. Those who have never registered online must make a login request on brec.org/webtrac at least two days prior to registration.
