Former Gov. Kathleen Blanco, LSU Lady Tigers basketball coach Nikki Caldwell-Fargas, State Rep. Julie Stokes and Mae Calvin Belton, chair-elect of the Baton Rouge Symphony, will be honored at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East 2016 Women of Distinction awards luncheon on May 11 at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel.

The honorees were selected based on their achievements as business, community and civic leaders in their fields, who are committed to supporting leadership opportunities for girls, a news release said.

“It is our pleasure to recognize these women for their accomplishments and dedication to excellence,” luncheon chairwoman Mary-Patricia Wray said.

The event begins with a Champagne reception at 11 a.m., followed by lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Luncheon tickets are $75 per person or $100 each when including the champagne reception lunch. Reserved tables of 10 are $1,000. Tickets may be purchased at

All proceeds support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in southeast Louisiana.
