The first meeting of the Expert Panel on Diversion Planning and Implementation will be held 8:30 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Capital Park Welcome Center, 702 N. River Road in Baton Rouge.

The Public comment period will begin at 4 p.m.

The Water Institute of the Gulf will host the meeting for the panel, which was set up to provide technical guidance as the state moves forward in building large river diversion projects for coastal restoration purposes.

Presentations will include the background of diversions as a restoration tool, perspectives on diversions and approaches to considering uncertainties in long-term planning.
