FLUKER — A Missouri man died Saturday morning in a crash on Interstate 55 near the La. 10 exit in northwestern Tangipahoa Parish, according to a Louisiana State Police news release.
Winson Tran, 46, of Fallon, Mo., was driving south in the left lane of I-55 in a 1998 GMC van around 10:30 a.m. when he drifted left into the grass median, Trooper Nicholas Manale said in the release.
Why Tran’s vehicle entered the median is unknown, Manale said.
Tran’s van traveled about 400 feet on the median before hitting a tree, Manale said.
The van rotated counterclockwise and overturned, Manale said.
Tran was taken to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, where he later died from his injuries, Manale said.
Tran was wearing a seat belt during the incident and he is not suspected to have been impaired, Manale said. However, toxicology results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
