Heavy rain, flooding hit Governor's Mansion

Heavy rains caused "some flooding" of the basement inside the Governor's Mansion Friday. Gov. John Bel Edwards' family has been relocated until the situation is resolved.

This hits close to home for Louisiana's Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Richard Carbo, Edwards' spokesman, said Friday evening that "some flooding" has occurred in the basement of the Governor's Mansion.

The governor’s family was relocated until the situation is resolved, Carbo added.

"But we can't provide any other information at this time," he said.

Edwards has scheduled a news conference for 10:30 a.m. Saturday to discuss the ongoing flooding.
