Bernard Terrace Elementary School students joined a long list of partner organizations and local education leaders on Feb. 2 to celebrate the completion of a new playground structure on the school’s campus.

Through a collaborative effort led by Capital One, more than $30,000 was raised to provide the new structure for Bernard Terrace Elementary students in prekindergarten through second grade.

Organizations providing monetary, planning and volunteer support for the new structure included Capital One Bank, Bernard Terrace Elementary, LSU Community Playground Project, Mid City Redevelopment Alliance, University Presbyterian Church, Milton J. Womack Foundation, East Baton Rouge Parish School System and Junior League of Baton Rouge, a news release said.

Capital One Bank associates and other volunteers worked at Bernard Terrace Elementary to complete the installation of two slides, a rock wall, a climber and more for prekindergarten through second-grade students, as well as a large standalone climber for students enrolled in higher grades, the release said.
