Anyone interested in getting free seedlings of a flowering dogwood or an Eastern redbud can go to the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry building Thursday in downtown Baton Rouge.

The seedlings will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis from the agency’s offices at 5825 Florida Blvd., starting at 2 p.m., while supplies last.

The seedlings were donated by ArborGen to be given to homeowners in support of Louisiana Arbor Day, which occurred in January, said Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain.
