Junior high and high school teams recently participated in the 12th Louisiana Envirothon at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens.

The environmental problem-solving competition includes testing in aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, a current issue on invasive species and an oral presentation, according to a news release. Winning teams were awarded plaques, medals and cash prizes.

Local participating schools include Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Episcopal School of Baton Rouge Unicorn Environmentalists, Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet and Woodlawn FFA.

Baton Rouge Magnet High School placed first and Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet placed third.

Baton Rouge Magnet High School had the highest scores on station tests for Forestry, Soils and Wildlife.
