BATON ROUGE PRESS CLUB: Noon, De La Ronde Hall, 320 Third St. House Speaker Jim Tucker will discuss the recently ended legislative sessions and proposed constitutional amendments. THE ADVOCATE AND ARCHIVAL TRAINING COLLABORATION PRESERVATION WORKSHOP: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Advocate’s administrative offices, 7290 Bluebonnet Blvd. The seminar will show both cultural heritage professionals and the general public how to care for historic newspapers and photographs. The cost is $35, which includes lunch and an information packet. Registration required by Monday.

HOW TO VIEW THE PERSEIDS: 7:30 p.m., Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road. The free lecture will be about the origin of the Perseids and the best way to view the major meteor shower, which will start at 9 p.m. and end at 1 a.m.
