About 500 people attended a 360-degree blessing of the graves Tuesday at the All Saints Day outdoor Mass at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home. An estimated 90 percent of those attending have loved ones buried at the cemetery. The annual service has been held for more than 45 years.
JoAnne Sims, of Baton Rouge, attended in the memory of her husband, John Allen Sims, who died of cancer at age 61. ‘I come to visit him every day,’ said Sims, who has only missed four days since 2008. ‘We had a very perfect life together, and not too many people can say that.’
