Carnival in Metairie can be a whole lot of fun at the annual Family Gras event.
Starting Friday, Feb. 6, through Sunday, Feb. 8, the annual Jefferson Parish Carnival event takes place on the neutral ground of Veterans Memorial Boulevard across from Lakeside Shopping Center.
Such music luminaries as LeAnn Rimes, the Beach Boys, Allen Toussaint, Amanda Shaw, Cowboy Mouth and Lou Gramm, former lead singer of Foreigner, will be performing at the event.
In addition to the parades that pass the area, Family Gras offers free outdoor concerts, including national and Louisiana artists alike.
Jefferson Parish restaurants, caterers and businesses to feature their cuisine and desserts at the Flambeau Food Court; as well as crafts and art pieces through the event’s Art Market.
For the young members of the family, there is the Kid’s Zone, with kid-friendly activities.
The Royal Pass, a $99 all-access ticket, allows the holder reviewing stand seats for the parades and backstage access, VIP food and beverages.
Friday entertainment includes NOLA Supergroup at 5:30 p.m. and Toussaint at 7 p.m.
The Saturday lineup includes So Long Storyland at 11 a.m., Southern Arrow at noon, Gramm at 1:30 p.m., Cowboy Mouth at 3:15 p.m., Becky G at 4:45 p.m. and the Beach Boys at 6 p.m.
Kicking off Sunday will be Remedy at 11 a.m., Creole String Beans at 11:45 a.m., Show at 12:45 p.m., Easton Corbin at 2 p.m. and Rimes at 3:30 p.m.
