Zachary High School’s Lady Broncos volleyball team recorded a history-making win Sept. 14 over U-High’s Lady Cubs.

School officials said it was the first time in recent history that the Lady Broncos beat the Lady Cubs on the volleyball court.

The Lady Broncos also beat Woodlawn Sept. 22 after three games: 25-14, 25-6 and 25-19.

In that game, junior Candace Baity led with 12 kills and 2 digs, and senior Keandra Williams followed with 18 kills and 1 ace.

Freshman Leanne Sorrel had 5 kills, 17 assists, 2 aces, 3 digs and 2 blocks while Nyka Martin, a senior, earned 2 kills and 8 assists.

Head coach Madeline Gugich and her Lady Broncos host Baton Rouge High School on Oct. 15 and St. Joseph’s Academy on Oct. 20.

Freshmen games begin at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity games at 6 p.m.
