“Chewburnitall” will be the theme for the inaugural kickoff of Ignition Festival, an art, music, camping and gathering event spread over four days in a pastoral yet secluded oasis in New Orleans East. The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbacchus heads the event, which promises large-scale bonfires, arts and a “leave no traces” attitude toward cleanup. crescent city blues & bbq festival

Head over to Lafayette Square Park for a both oral and aural treats as the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival heats up the stages and the pits. Produced by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, the three days of dancing, dining and music feature a host of food vendors, oral histories and lots of that New Orleans festival flavor. st. john the baptist parish andouille festival

The mouth-watering taste of andouille will be the reason for the season when the St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival celebrates this Louisiana cultural and culinary jewel. Held at LaPlace’s St. John Community Center, 2900 La. 51, this succulent sausage will be the featured product in a host of great food at this annual River Parish event. violet oyster festival

All things oyster will take center stage this weekend for the annual Violet Oyster Festival. The delectable bivalve is the cause celebre at this annual function, with rides, music contests and a crafts fair. Lafreniere Park is the place to be for all things pet and pet loving for Pest Fest 2015, “Tales from the Barkside.” The Jefferson SPCA event will be a furry fest with raffles, music, games and a chance to take home a loving, adoptable four-legged friend.
