An 88-year-old Kenner man whose vehicle was parked on the shoulder of Airline Highway in East Baton Rouge Parish late Sunday apparently walked into traffic from the median and was struck and killed, according to State Police.

Jerome Foreman, who was hit by two vehicles and possibly a third shortly before 10 p.m., was pronounced dead at the scene in the northbound lanes of Airline Highway south of LA 73, said State Police Trooper First Class Bryan Lee.

Foreman’s 2006 Honda Ridgeline was found parked on the northbound shoulder of Airline Highway, Lee said. For unknown reasons, he walked into traffic was struck by several vehicles, Lee said.

One of the automobiles was a 2007 Honda Accord driven by 33-year-old Nedra Price of Baton Rouge and another was a 2002 Hyundai Accent driven by 61-year-old Mary Silkowski of St. Amant.

Neither of the drivers were cited, Lee said.

Troopers also believe Foreman was possibly struck by a third vehicle that fled.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. A toxicology sample was taken from all parties involved for analysis, Lee said.

The third vehicle is believed to be a 2011-2013 Toyota Corolla with damage to the front bumper. Troopers urge anyone with any information regarding this crash to contact Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225)754-8500.
